About DegreePlus Daily
Hello. I’m Chinnagounder Thiruvenkatam, and I publish this site from Chennai, India.
DegreePlus Daily exists because a degree alone no longer gets anyone hired. Not in 2026, and not going forward. A BTech graduate competing for a software job needs more than the BTech. A nursing graduate aiming at US or UK hospitals needs more than the BSN. A law student hoping to survive the AI transition needs more than the JD. Every professional I meet is asking the same quiet question: what else do I need to learn to stay employable?
This site is my attempt to answer that question, one vertical at a time, honestly.
Why I’m writing this
I served 25 years in the Central Reserve Police Force, India’s largest central armed police organization, across field and administrative roles. I retired and became a full-time publisher in 2016, running a small network of websites covering topics I cared about — government services, technology, education, nursing careers.
Publishing has not been a smooth career. I’ve watched Google’s algorithm changes reshape which sites survive. I’ve watched AI tools turn content creation upside down in less than two years. I’ve lost income to both. I’ve rebuilt. I’ve learned, slowly, that the only content worth publishing is content that genuinely helps a real person make a better decision.
That’s what DegreePlus Daily tries to do. Every article is written for a specific reader with a specific question: Given my degree, what skill should I add next to become genuinely employable — or more valuable in the job I already have?
Who this site is for
- Students finishing a degree and realising the degree alone won’t get them hired
- Early-career professionals watching their industry change faster than their skills
- Mid-career workers whose jobs are being reshaped by AI and automation
- Career changers trying to pivot without starting from zero
I write primarily for readers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, because that’s where the skills-employment gap is widest and the stakes are highest. But the underlying questions are universal, and readers from anywhere are welcome.
What you won’t find here
No “earn $10,000 a month from home” nonsense. No fake certifications from unknown providers. No listicles padded with filler. No AI-generated articles disguised as expert opinion. No affiliate links to products I wouldn’t recommend to a family member.
What you will find here
Honest analysis of which certifications actually pay off and which don’t. Specific skill recommendations matched to specific degrees. Real data on salaries, hiring trends, and industry changes. Sometimes my own opinion, clearly marked as opinion. Always, a direction I’d stand behind if a friend asked.
